BC, Tallinn, 14.12.2020.Print version
On Monday, the price of electricity in Nord Pool bidding area Estonia will rise to approximately 200 euros per megawatt-hour due to the shutdown of the second reactor of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland, writes LET/BNS.
The average daily price will be 107.42 euros in Nord Pool bidding area Estonia and the hourly price will reach 200 euros between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. From 5 p.m., the price is to drop to 108.54 euros and decrease with each subsequent hour until the end of the day.
The second reactor of Olkiluoto was disconnected from the mains due to a failure in the afternoon of December 10. According to the nuclear energy company Teollisuuden Voima (TVO), an alarm situation arose when warmer-than-usual water reached the reactor's cooling water treatment system.
The second reactor at the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland will be connected to the grid at the end of this week, according to TVO.
