Telia and Ericsson on Wednesday signed a strategic partnership agreement, according to which Telia will use only Ericsson radio communication technology to transition its Swedish and Estonian 4G networks to 5G over the next five years, reports LETA/BNS.
According to Telia, approximately 10,000 network points will be upgraded in the framework of the agreement. CEO Allison Kirkby said that the agreement with Ericsson is the start of a multi-year network infrastructure investment package.
Telia Company launched its first public 5G network in Finland last year, followed by networks in Norway and Sweden this year. A network is planned to be launched in Denmark in late fall this year.
