First Burger King restaurant in Latvia opened in Akropole
The 310-square-metre restaurant with a total of 112 seats is located on the second floor of the popular shopping centre in Riga and with the view to the “Akropole” ice arena.
Although the restaurant will officially start offering its renowned flame-grilled burgers and the rest of its popular menu in Latvia from today, the food will initially only be available as take-away or home delivery due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and several national restrictions for public spaces.
The restaurant chain hopes to start offering the dine-in option for all its Latvian fans as soon as possible, when the virus situation improves and restrictions are eased in the country.
Commenting on the launch of the global fast food chain in Latvia, Katre Kõvask, Head of Food & Beverage at Tallink Grupp, said:
“We are delighted that we have been able to bring the world-famous flame-grilled flavours and the tasty Burger King menu to the Latvian fast food market and our Latvian fans at last, despite the many hurdles we have faced this year. You are all welcome to come and take away your favourite burgers or have them delivered to your doorstep and enjoy some new flavours this year! As we cannot travel anywhere right now, let Burger King take you on a little culinary journey.
If you do pop in to the restaurant for take-away, rest assured, our diligent and professional team has ensured that it is safe to visit our restaurant to pick up your food with frequent cleaning, sanitising, safe distance-keeping, face masks and much more. We take our customers’ safety extremely seriously.
And we really hope that before long, you are able to enjoy our delicious food with family and friends also in our comfortable and cosy restaurant, when the virus situation improves. We look forward to welcoming you and looking after you.”
“We are pleased about the opening of the first Burger King restaurant in Latvia at the shopping and entertainment centre Akropole. Burger King is a brand that has raised a significant interest in Latvia and is eagerly awaited. With the opening of the restaurant, Akropole as the most modern shopping centre continues its growth, expanding the range of shops, entertainment and leisure opportunities, as well as offering new, unique brands. We are happy to welcome Burger King as one of our tenants and we wish success in Latvia,” emphasises Zane Kaktina, the Manager of shopping and entertainment centre Akropole.
The Burger King restaurant opened in the Akropole shopping centre in Riga is Tallink Grupp’s first restaurant of the global brand to open outside Estonia and overall its sixth restaurant in the Baltics and to be opened this year. The new restaurant in Riga provides jobs for approximately 30 people. The company plans to open two more restaurants in the Baltics before the end of 2020, one in Vilnius, Lithuania and one in Tallinn, Estonia.
