Jolita Meržvinskienė, Statistics Lithuania, Vilnius, 15.12.2020.Print version
In 2019, against 2018, an increase in gross domestic product (GDP) in Lithuania was recorded in all counties. The fastest GDP growth was observed in Vilnius (9.2%) and Marijampolė (8.7%) counties.

In 2019, the largest per-capita GDP was recorded in Vilnius and Kaunas counties (EUR 25.4 thousand and EUR 17.7 thousand respectively), while in the rest of the counties, it was below the national average (EUR 17.5 thousand), and the smallest per-capita GDP was recorded in Tauragė county – EUR 9.9 thousand.

In 2019, in terms of GDP per-capita, the gap between Vilnius and other counties did not shrink: in Vilnius county, this indicator exceeded the indicators of Alytus, Marijampolė, Tauragė, Telšiai and Utena counties more than twice.

In 2019, based on provisional data, GDP created in the Capital Region totalled EUR 20.7 billion or 42.4 per cent of the country’s GDP. The per-capita GDP created in the Capital Region exceeded that of the Central and Western Lithuania Region 1.8 times.

Compared to 2018, the GDP created in the Capital Region increased by 6%, the Central and Western Lithuania Region – 3.2 per cent (by estimating the regions’ GDP at prices of the previous year).
