LTG Infra gets green light to build Rail Baltica section from Kaunas to Latvian border
BC, Vilnius/Riga, 23.12.2020.Print version
LTG Infra, the infrastructure subsidiary of Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LTG), has took over the ownership of land necessary for the construction of the European-gauge railway Rail Baltica's stretch from Kaunas to the border with Latvia, informs LETA/BNS.
"After completing all legal formalities, we now have the green light for construction work on this section," LTG Infra CEO Karolis Sankovski said in a press release.
The company obtained the right to carry out construction on the section after 60 state land transfer agreements have been registered with the Center of Registers.
This follows the acquisition of 1,365 land parcels from private owners. Another 1,200 parcels have been taken for public needs to build access roads and other infrastructure. The process is scheduled to be completed early next year.
