Lithuanian customs officers detain oil, gas equipment shipment for Russia
BC, Vilnius, 07.09.2020.Print version
Lithuanian customs officers on Friday detained a shipment of ready-to-use equipment for the oil and gas industry, meant for Russia, the Customs Department said LETA/BNS.
The shipment was detained because it contained dual purpose goods, and such exports need an export license. Moreover, exports of mechanisms used in the oil and gas industry from the European Union are under certain sanctions.
The shipment was also detained upon suspicion that the real value of the goods whose declared value was stated as 1 mln euros was in fact reduced.
The detained shipment is used of oil drilling, the department said, and it was meant for use at oil and gas fields on the Arctic shelf.
An investigation is underway.
