BC, Vilnius, 09.10.2020.Print version
Lithuania's three international airports served over 100,000 passengers in September 2020, half of the 212,000 recorded in August. The major drop was in early fall was recorded after a fairly successful summer season, Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports), the airport operator in Lithuania, said on Friday, cites LETA/BNS.
Aurimas Stikliunas, head of aviation services at Lietuvos Oro Uostai, says the mid-summer projections are materializing as passenger flows were expected to stop growing or drop in the fall and winter due to tighter restrictions and very different travel conditions.
Some 66,000 passengers went through Vilnius Airport last month, 23,000 travelled through Kaunas Airport, and 11,000 people travelled via Palanga Airport.
All three airports recorded a drop of 13.3% in flight numbers which stood at 2.950 in September. Flights to 68 destinations (72 in August) were operated from Lithuanian airports.
