Number of flights handled by Latvian air traffic controller LGS down 55.3% in 11 months

Latvian air traffic controller Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS), which is responsible for managing air traffic in Latvia, handled 125,472 flights in the first 11 months of 2020, down 55.3% from the same period a year ago, the company said LETA.
The January-November figure included 33,276 flights to and from Riga, down 58.5% y-o-y, and 92,196 transit flights, down 54% from January-November 2019.
In November, LGS handled 8,930 flights, down 58% from November 2019, and down 12.3% from the previous month.
As reported, LGS handled 302,049 flights in 2019, which is 3.3% more than in 2018. This figure included 86,780 flights to and from Riga, up 4.3% y-o-y, and 215,269 transit flights, up 2.9% against 2018.
Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme is a fully state-owned enterprise providing air navigation services to airspace users.
