Registration for NAPA Baltic Packaging Design Awards Has Started
Just like last year, packaging
designers will compete in 11 NAPA Baltic Awards categories: fresh food,
prepared food, confectionery, snacks & desserts, non-alcoholic beverages,
low alcohol beverages, high alcohol beverages, health and beauty, private label,
limited edition product, and artisan product.
Algirdas Orantas, the Chairman of
the Board at the Lithuanian Design Association, commented that the
geographically expanded awards have become a great platform for Baltic
designers when it comes to attracting worldwide attention to the visual,
functional, and sustainability-conscious innovations born in the region.
“NAPA Baltic aims to evaluate,
acknowledge, and open new doors for both the designers and their creations,”
said A. Orantas. “This is the reason why we have decided to continue accepting
submissions for free. We believe that this low barrier to entry will facilitate
the presentation of new ideas to the world by both major agencies and companies
and the smaller or even individual creators.”
The submissions that make it all
the way to the last stage of the NAPA Baltic Awards will be evaluated by a
7-member jury from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. This year, the Estonian side
of the jury features Helene Vetik, who is a co-founder and creative partner at
the Hmmm creative studio, and Dan Mikkin, a partner and service designer at the
Brand Manual branding and service design agency. From Latvia, the jury will be
reinforced by Maija Rozenfelde and the Global Portfolio Director of the Amber
Beverage Group, Maris Kalnins. Lithuania will be represented by the Head of
Marketing at the BIOK Laboratorija, Ieva Čepononė and Renata Šarkauskaitė, the
Creative Director at Mãrios, a newly-created advertising agency, as well as
Gabija Platūkytė.
Running concurrently to the
Package Design Awards, the NAPA Talks by Aurika conference will also take place
on November 5 at the Taste Vilnius HORECA event, where international
presenters, packaging designers, and food and other product manufacturers will
exchange experience, knowledge, and insights about the latest trends in their
sectors. All packaging design solutions selected for the final stage of the
awards will be available for viewing and evaluation on November 5-7, at the
Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO in Vilnius.
Last year, 121 packaging designs
were submitted for consideration at the NAPA Baltic awards. 60 of them were
selected for the final stage, with 21 receiving prizes. The most prolific
categories in the finals were prepared food (11), high alcohol beverages (11),
health and beauty (9), and limited edition product (9). Country-wise, the
biggest number of submissions came from Lithuania with 80. 29 designs were
submitted from Estonia and Latvia trailed behind with 12.
