Latvia: Merchants, food suppliers work on increase of capacity
Didzis Kirstuks, the director of Rimi Latvia e-commerce format, said that the number of customers served at Rimi e-store has been increased, but the demand is still growing and currently there are customers in line, waiting for deliveries until April 3. Therefore, the company is working on increase of its capacities in all aspects.
Liis Ristal, the head of Wolt meal delivery service provider in the Baltic states, said that Wolt has not seen an increase of its meal deliveries after the state of emergency was declared. The situation last week was similar to the previous week, while the weekend showed some rise, but not extraordinary high.
Ristal said that the company is small, and its business is growing organically, recruiting new couriers at its own space.
As reported, in an effort to prevent Covid-19 from spreading further in Latvia, a state of emergency came into force on March 13, setting a number of tough restrictions. The state of emergency is in force until April 14.
