Merks to build EUR 32 mln Orkla production plant in Latvia

SIA Merks, a company of listed Estonian construction group AS Merko Ehitus, has entered into a contract with SIA Orkla Biscuit Production for the construction of a new wafer and biscuits production plant for Orkla in Adazi, Latvia, informs LETA/BNS.

The value of the contract is approximately 32 million euros, plus value added tax. Construction works are scheduled to be completed in January 2022, Merko informed the stock exchange on Monday.


The works include the construction of a new wafer and biscuits production plant building together with external communication networks and territory infrastructure.


SIA Merks is a Latvian construction company which provides construction services in the fields of general construction, civil engineering and residential construction.


AS Merko Ehitus group consists of AS Merko Ehitus Eesti in Estonia, SIA Merks in Latvia, UAB Merko Statyba in Lithuania and Peritus Entreprenor AS in Norway. Besides providing construction services as a main contractor, the group's other major area of activity is apartment development. The group employed 694 people at the end of 2019, and its revenue for 2019 totaled 327 million euros.
