Interior Minister Sandis Girgens (KPV LV) is not making any comments on this matter at the moment, his advisor Beate Jonite told LETA.
LETA has also not been able to get into contact with the Internal Security Bureau to find out in which criminal process the person has been detained.
Meanwhile, State Border Guard press representative Kristine Petersone told LETA that officers from the Internal Security Bureau had arrived at the State Border Guard headquarters in Riga on Friday. Petersone did not comment whether these officers conducted a search, and said that only the Internal Security Bureau can comment on this matter. She also could not reveal where Pujats is at the moment.
LETA reported that last year the Internal Security Bureau detained former State Border Guard Chief Normunds Garbars. He was detained in connection with a case assessing possible crimes in the construction process of infrastructure on the Latvian-Russian border strip, as well as construction on the Latvian-Belarusian border.
