Latvia receives 8,000 face masks from US

Print versionLatvia has received 7,700 hygienic face masks from the US, purchased by the command of US forces in Europe from Latvian company Salvador, informs LETA.

LETA learned from the US embassy in Riga that the masks cost USD 15,000. The face masks will be distributed to less socially protected groups in order to ensure additional protection when visiting medical institutions.
In May this year the US embassy presented 3,660 liters of disinfectants to the Emergency Medical Service, and 22,500 pairs of non-sterile gloves and 1,000 liters of hand disinfectants to the Education and Science Ministry for organization of school exams.
In July, the US embassy handed to the Defense Ministry 38,600 pairs of non-sterile gloves and 2,800 face shields that were distributed to state institutions where employees have direct and regular contacts with the society.
