Traffic at Lithuania-Belarus border continues as normal
BC, Vilnius, 22.09.2020.Print version
Despite last week's announcement by President Alexander Lukashenko that Belarus was closing its borders with Lithuania and Poland, cross-border traffic at Lithuania's border with Belarus continues as normal, the commander of the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service said LETA/BNS.
Tailbacks of cars sometimes form at border checkpoints, and
trucks are checked more strictly, but there have been no major problems so far,
Rustamas Liubajevas.
"The situation remains unchanged. Cross-border traffic
continues; there were no major problems over the weekend," he said.
Belarusian border guards stepped up checks on
Lithuanian-registered trucks a week ago, subjecting all of them to X-ray
inspections, according to Liubajeva
