Yandex Go starts monitoring drivers for speed in Estonia
BC, Tallinn, 03.12.2020.Print version
The Russia-based ridesharing platform Yandex Go has launched the technology of automatic monitoring of the speed of vehicles also in Estonia, reports LETA/BNS.
The technology is in use in each of the cities where Yandex Go operates, the company announced.
The monitoring system calculates the driver’s speed, and GPS determines the route they travel. It then marks speed limit data on a map and compares it against the driver's speed.
Drivers who regularly exceed the speed limit receive a warning via the mobile app. If the driver continues to speed after several warnings, the algorithm temporarily blocks them from getting new orders. For repeat violators access will be blocked permanently.
