BC, Riga , 09.12.2020.Print version
Latvian airline airBaltic cancelled its flights to the Lithuanian capital Vilnius and the country's resort town of Palanga after the Latvian government decided to restrict travel to and from Lithuania, informed LETA/BNS.
Tadas Vasiliauskas, spokesman for Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airport), the airport operator in Lithuania, says the fights have been cancelled until Sunday. "They were cancelled on Monday already but the situation around restrictions was still expected to change on Wednesday," Vasiliauskas told.
In his words, Vilnius-Riga flights took place daily, and the Latvian airline flew to Palanga three times a week.
Latvia announced its decision on Friday to halt commercial transportation of passengers to and from Lithuania, both by plane and by bus, due to the spread of the coronavirus.
