Latvijas Tilti fined with EUR 77,400 for bribing Klaipeda port official
The Riga Vidzeme District Court decided to enforce a fine of 180 minimum wages or EUR 77,400 from the company, and lift arrest from the company's assets.
After the court ruling takes effect, Latvijas Tilti will not be able to take part in new public procurements for several years.
Currently Latvijas Tilti are participating in a number of large-scale procurements.
Former company's board chairman Genadijs Kamkalovs, is being tried in Lithuania for bribing Gediminas Zumaras, the Klaipeda port's former director for infrastructure, with an expensive watch and EUR 5,000 hidden in a box of cognac in 2016.. They both were detained in Lithuania, while the Latvian Corruption Prevention Bureau conducted searches in several addresses related with LNK holding.
Latvijas Tilti, registered in 1991, has a share capital of EUR 1.012 million, according to information available at Firmas.lv. The company's financial results for 2019 have not been released, but in 2018 Latvijas Tilti turned over EUR 18.369 million and suffered a EUR 668,180 loss.
